About The Position

The IT Compliance Specialist I at Black Hills Corporation is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT compliance programs and procedures, particularly in relation to physical security. This role involves reviewing IT policies and controls to ensure compliance with regulations, conducting audits, and providing training to enhance compliance awareness within the organization. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in IT, Business Administration, Compliance, Risk, Security, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Broad knowledge of Information Technology concepts and IT security controls.
  • Ability to apply IT-related knowledge in solving compliance issues.
  • Quick learner with the ability to absorb new information quickly.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes in assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of internal controls, specifically IT General Controls (ITGC), CIS Controls, and NERC CIP.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, NERC CIP requirements, and TSA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise programs, policies, and procedures to comply with technology-related regulations.
  • Perform and monitor IT compliance activities including data collection, analysis, and remediation.
  • Support management in the design and efficiency testing of IT control activities.
  • Communicate and train on IT compliance issues and activities to build awareness.
  • Design controls and train SOC staff on NERC, TSA, and incident response requirements.
  • Investigate complaints or violations of laws and internal policies, documenting findings and taking corrective actions.
  • Learn applicable standards and their application to the enterprise environment.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Support IT compliance-related projects and teams while meeting project timelines.
