About The Position

The Inverter Development Engineer at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in the development and qualification of motor inverters and variable frequency drives for the New Glenn mission. This position involves working within a collaborative team to ensure the successful design and operation of advanced power electronics systems for reusable space vehicles, contributing to the vision of safe human spaceflight.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• 3+ years of demonstrated experience in electrical engineering design with a focus on power electronics systems.
• Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection.
• Familiarity with components such as ADCs, DACs, Op-Amps, power supplies, processors, MOSFETs, and IGBTs.
• Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team throughout the product lifecycle.

Nice To Haves

• Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• Experience with radiation effects on electronics.
• High-voltage power electronic design experience.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, and PSIM or similar modeling/analysis tools.
• Hands-on experience with operating lab test equipment for design validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new inverter design across the entire product life cycle, from concept and requirements definition to release to production.
• Support architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, and product roadmap direction.
• Conduct design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
• Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
