About The Position

This internship position is expected to start in May 2025 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August/September 2025) or into Fall 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. The Internship Recruiting Team is driven by the passion to recognize and develop emerging talent. Our year-round program places the best students in positions where they will grow technically, professionally, and personally through their experience working closely with their Manager, Mentor, and team. We are dedicated to providing an experience that allows the intern to experience life at Tesla by including them in projects that are critical to their team's success. The Sales Engineering team focuses on evaluating and defining new sales opportunities to deploy Tesla's industrial energy storage products including Megapack. We are a group of engineers that are the first point of technical contact with our customers (Energy Utilities, Renewable Energy Project Developers, Independent Power Producers) and sit at the center of business development, Tesla Energy technology, and the deployment of Tesla Energy storage products on and off the grid.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent in experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Python.
  • Demonstrated experience building data pipelines using Airflow.
  • Working knowledge of Spark and big data processing.
  • Experience with Git or other source control software.
  • Scala experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and contribute to all stages of the project lifecycle from product pitch, RFP technical reviews through contract negotiations.
  • Understand the value of Tesla's energy storage products and competitive advantages.
  • Shadow and eventually lead (with guidance from senior members of the team) the review of RFP documents and coordinate with product/engineering/sales teams to put together a list of technical exceptions to RFP documents from Tesla's standard offerings.
  • Support and work with customers (with guidance from senior members of the team) on finding an optimal solution that is both technically and financially feasible for a project, considering all project-specific restrictions.
  • Have a good grasp of contracting concepts and support contract population with project specific-guaranteed values, and quality checks with sales/sales operations teams.
  • Have a solid understanding of internal tools and processes, and support building of new tools to support sales engineering analysis and improve the efficiency of the sales engineering processes.
