About the position

We are currently hiring Undergraduate Interns to join our AutonomyNM Institute, working remotely from their college town, or on-site if they attend a local college. AutonomyNM interns work with expert staff in research and development of autonomous systems from stationary to hypersonic applications, from a single vehicle to swarms. Examples of tasks include developing algorithms, developing software, coding at various levels from high level to assembly, integrating processors (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, GPU) into flight hardware, programming robots, performing system ID of drones, generating trajectories, flying drones, analyzing test data, modeling/simulating dynamic systems, etc. Mentoring and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms for autonomous systems
  • Develop software and code at various levels from high level to assembly
  • Integrate processors (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, GPU) into flight hardware
  • Program robots and perform system ID of drones
  • Generate trajectories and fly drones
  • Analyze test data and model/simulate dynamic systems

Requirements

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in a computer language such as C++, Python, CUDA, Julia, Matlab, or similar
  • Experience in software engineering
  • Proficiency in Linux, ROS, or engineering software like Simulink, Verilog/VHDL, Mathematica, etc.
  • A class in machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, or similar
  • Experience with embedded systems, drones, robots, or other systems used in autonomy
  • Familiarity with Guidance, Navigation, and Control
  • A GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher
