Cascadia Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians play a critical role in providing an integrated science education. They guide students in the use of technologies and enable faculty to implement cutting-edge teaching practices by researching, procuring, implementing, and supporting new laboratory techniques. They also ensure that Cascadia science labs are safe learning environments. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Natural Science Labs (ASNSL) Learning, the Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 3 – Engineering/Physics/Earth and Environmental Sciences will coordinate and provide senior-level instructional laboratory support to undergraduate courses in these areas. Other primary duties include serving as liaison between Student Accessibility Services and assigned lab faculty to support accommodations in lab settings and to promote Universal Design principles in labs. This senior-level class is responsible for coordinating instructional support activities, designing/developing instructional support programs or designing and constructing equipment in assigned subjects. Under general direction, it provides support to courses requiring an emphasis in complex design and development tasks such as developing experiments/demonstrations where only general theoretical concepts are identified, designing instructional support applications based on current research findings.
