About The Position

Performs pharmaceutical procedures for medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Prepares, compounds, packages, labels, and dispenses medication, and nutritional products. Adheres to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control policies to maintain a safe and sterile medication area, clean rooms, and laminar flow hoods. Assists with medicine and supplies inventory management and control, including maintaining adequate stock levels, checking accuracy of pricing, and completing required regulatory documentation. Exercises sound judgment and has developed clinical skills to provide pharmaceutical support to the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety. May also be responsible for performing other specific tasks and/or orienting other staff to the department.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (PHRMTECHR) or Certified Pharmacy Technician (PHARMC) or Pharmacy Technician (PHARMT).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and laws and regulations.
  • Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly.
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize assignments.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and related pharmaceutical technology.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, package, label, and dispense medication and nutritional products.

  • Assist with inventory management and control of medicines and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations and standards.
  • Provide pharmaceutical support to the patient's plan of care.
  • Orient other staff to the department as needed.
