About The Position

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking a Contractors Equipment (CE), Inland Marine Underwriter to join our US-based team. This role can be fulfilled from various BHSI offices including NYC, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. As part of the Marine team, you will work in a collaborative environment with a close-knit underwriting team, allowing you to build momentum in your underwriting career while working alongside knowledgeable professionals with deep expertise in Marine insurance. The position focuses on developing and expanding the Contractors Equipment line within the Inland Marine book of business, and you will work closely with our CE leader based in NYC.

Requirements

• 2-5+ years P&C insurance underwriting experience.
• Experience with Inland Marine lines and background in Contractors' Equipment underwriting are strongly preferred.
• Strong existing broker relationships.
• Experience and strong understanding of policy forms, including broker manuscripts and AAIS.
• Experience marketing to specialized brokers.
• Strong collaboration and team building skills.
• Must be entrepreneurial and a self-starter.
• Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communications, and presentation experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and continue to build the Contractors Equipment line within the Inland Marine book of business.
• Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships working independently and in conjunction with other BHSI product lines.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
