Requirements

  • Current license or certification as a medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, physician, or registered nurse
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a healthcare field
  • 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, or nights as needed

Nice To Haves

  • CIC Certification
  • Training in infection control and/or epidemiology
  • Preferred: experience in hospital infection control practice
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology

Responsibilities

  • Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program
  • Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines
  • Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances
  • Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards
  • Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections
  • Educate staff on infection control protocols
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection control practices and policies
  • Develop and maintain infection control standards meeting regulatory guidelines
