The position leads the front-end conceptual design process including analysis of customer data and operations, developing, designing, engineering, and integration of multiple technologies. The role will frequently involve analyzing large data files via SQL Server, building project-specific databases, and developing presentation materials and visuals to summarize design requirements. The position works with Solution Sales and Applications Engineers to develop design requirements for mid-scale automated projects and is typically tasked to present analysis and solutions to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Analytics/Statistics or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in material handling industry, minimum of 3 years
  • Experience in analytics, statistics, or simulation experience, minimum of 2 years
  • Knowledge of material handling, including controls and software and material handling equipment technology
  • Knowledge of process improvement processes and mathematical modeling of systems
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of systems engineering, analysis, and design
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, and SQL and knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
  • Knowledge of Engineered Time and Motion Systems (e.g., MOST and MTM)
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment

Responsibilities

  • Conceptually develop block level designs and material flows end-to-end material handling solutions that integrate multiple technologies such as sortation conveyors, automated storage and retrieval systems, robotics, voice and light picking systems, and supporting structures
  • Perform data collection and analysis to define design criteria, experienced with SQL for organizing, shaping, and analyzing large data files
  • Work with Applications Engineering, Sales, and Customers to define system requirements and specifications
  • Identify applicable new technologies
  • Work with vendors to develop complex turnkey subsystems such as unit sorters and automated storage and retrieval systems
  • Develop labor requirements for proposed solutions using tools and techniques such as time study, MOST, and MTM
  • Use economics analysis tools to determine return on investment for selected concepts
  • Work with proposal documents, selected solution reports, bid specifications, descriptions of operations, and other plan documents
  • Travel up to 20%
