About The Position

The Import Forwarding Agent at FedEx Logistics is responsible for providing high-quality customer service and efficient shipment processing to ensure the timely movement of freight and cargo. This role involves maintaining strong relationships with customers, preparing necessary documentation, resolving issues related to billing and payments, and coordinating freight forwarding functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills (written/oral).
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Working knowledge of air export regulations and Schedule B tariff classification.
  • Familiarity with handling hazardous materials and regulations for import/export related to DOT.
  • Basic math skills for conversions to metric and currency evaluations.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in freight forwarding or logistics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in international trade regulations.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods shipping regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent customer service and shipment processing to ensure timely movement of freight/cargo.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers' front line personnel.
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit documentation to ensure compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems that could delay freight movement.
  • Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers and service providers to exceed customer service requirements.
  • Resolve banking and letter of credit problems and advise customers on payment terms.
  • Resolve billing issues and ensure accurate invoicing and vendor payments.
  • Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer files.
  • Develop rates and provide quotes for freight movement.
  • Generate special manual reports to meet customer needs.
  • Ensure timely communication with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate customer booking requests and assist with restricted articles submission.
  • Complete import/export documentation in accordance with international trade regulations.
  • Engage with clients regarding billing disputes and shipment status.
  • Dispatch carriers for pickups at company locations and customer distribution centers.
  • Track and trace shipments, including entry of milestones and exceptions.
  • Coordinate oversized and out of gauge shipments and handle Hazmat shipments.
