Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in healthcare required.
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Skill using computers and office equipment.
  • Skill organizing and prioritizing work.
  • Skill with verbal and written communication.
  • Skill using Microsoft Office and other clinical applications.
  • Skill presenting information to a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization requirements required.
  • Knowledge of Credentialing laws, regulations and guidelines required.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards required.
  • Broad knowledge of health care administration, principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage resources within defined budget.
  • Ability to accurately complete work.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Ability to effectively implement change.
  • Ability to adhere to all workplace and safety requirements, regulations, standards, and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff for assigned sections. Interview and hire qualified applicants to maintain staffing levels. Provide departmental orientation to employees. Perform regular performance appraisals, work with employees on improving work as soon as deficiencies are noted. Administer discipline, working with leadership and human resources on continuing issues. Approve time off and work schedules to ensure proper staff coverage. Maintain time records and submit proper information to the payroll department. Work with internal staff on materials for initial and ongoing training. Meet with staff regularly to maintain communication.
  • Manage budget, billing and inventory. Work collaboratively with leadership to identify capital needs and operational metric goals. Regularly review expenses to budget, accounting for any negative variances. Participate in the selection of major and minor capital equipment items. Monitor patient billing processes to ensure timely correction of issues. Work with staff on consumable supplies to maximize resources. Partner with internal departments to standardize and select best value products that can be utilized across the system.
  • Manage day to day operations, programs and new program development. Review daily patient schedules for areas assigned. Check attendance status of technologists and other support team. Reassign staff as necessary to provide proper coverage for anticipated workload. Develop optimal staffing models to meet operational needs and budgetary constraints. Contact patient care areas to follow up and respond to issues and concerns. Monitor services and partner with other areas as needed to resolve issues with wait times. Initiate and make suggestions for new methods and improvements to services. Run or request data reports and records necessary to document needed improvements. Work with leadership on performance metrics, reviewing goals and progress regularly. Share patient satisfaction scores with staff and work collaboratively on solutions to deficient areas.
  • Manage section safety and ensure regulatory compliance. Implement safety policies, ensuring proper communication is provided to staff on changes. Review safety standards and monitor staff to ensure compliance. Monitor status of departmental equipment to ensure proper and safe operation. Ensure preventive maintenance schedule is followed. Work with internal departments to obtain service for malfunctions or broken equipment. Maintain a current knowledge of regulatory changes in area of responsibility. Ensure documentation is in order for all accrediting bodies and in the case of patient incidents.
