About The Position

The Data Governance Associate Manager will lead the development and execution of data governance frameworks at Unilever's Ice Cream division, ensuring data quality, compliance with U.S. regulations, and strategic alignment across operations. This role is pivotal in establishing best practices for managing data as a critical asset and driving collaboration across teams to enhance data governance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Experience in data governance, data management or a related field, preferably in a U.S. corporate setting.
  • Proven experience with U.S. data regulations, including CCPA and state-specific privacy laws.
  • At least one relevant U.S. focused data governance or privacy certification such as CIPP, CDMP, CIGO, or CISA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the data governance strategy in alignment with Unilever's global framework.
  • Establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, security, and usability across U.S. systems.
  • Lead the implementation of key performance indicators (KPI's) to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and present findings to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. regulations such as CCPA and emerging federal and state privacy laws.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to monitor evolving regulations and ensure data governance policies are up to date.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks related to data security, access, and usage within the U.S. market.
  • Oversee data quality efforts and ensure consistent application of governance policies across all brands.
  • Partner with data stewards and systems owners to monitor and resolve data quality issues.
  • Drive the adoption of data management tools and techniques to improve data integrity and accessibility.
  • Act as central point of contact for data governance across departments.
  • Collaborate with IT, data analytics, etc. to promote the value of data governance and ensure alignment with operational needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to data stewards and other key stakeholders on governance practices and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with IT teams to ensure proper integration of data governance technologies with existing systems.
  • Evaluate and approve data-related vendors and third-party partners, ensuring alignment with Unilever's data governance policies.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Legal and IT teams to establish and negotiate data-sharing agreements, security standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of vendor performance and compliance to maintain the integrity of Unilever's data ecosystem.
