About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist I position is responsible for coordinating various HR programs including recruitment, benefits, training, and employee relations. This role serves as a liaison between managers and HR representatives, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures while managing HRIS transactions and payroll updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Self-starter with great prioritization and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment, benefits, training, and employee relations programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with managers, department heads, and HR representatives.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Act as Notary public for the department.
  • Collaborate with IFAS HR as the department HR Liaison.
  • Attend monthly IFAS HR roundtable and UFHR monthly forum, and register for HR trainings as needed.
  • Approve transactions and input changes into the university HRIS.
  • Act as the Department Security Administrator and Identity Manager.
  • Update Excel workbooks to track HR actions and completions.
  • Update the IFAS Directory as needed.
  • Coordinate all hires including TEAMS, OPS, STAS, GAs, Post Docs, and Fellowships.
  • Generate Gator Start paperwork and conduct I-9 management.
  • Process foreign national hires and initiate POIs.
  • Order Gator 1 cards for new employees.
  • Process New Hire ePAFs for staff, GA's, and students.
  • Manage payroll updates and exceptions, enter payroll distribution, and manage payroll deadlines and approvals.
  • Communicate with the fiscal team about new hires for payroll distributions.
  • Process Additional Pays, Job Edits, update positions, create new positions, and handle Leave Epafs.
  • Process leave cash outs and provide guidance for employees with time entry inquiries.
  • Resolve routine issues and employee concerns such as medical claims and documentation requests.
  • Review federal and state laws, and university regulations to ensure HR programs are compliant.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of HR policies and recommend revisions or modifications.
  • Process terminations, resignations, retirements, and transfers.
  • Handle HR 600 forms, Nepotism forms, and FMLA and Parental leave ePAFs.
  • Run and distribute various payroll reports and maintain department records.
  • Create Dropbox files for hires and use DocuSign for administrative purposes.
  • Assist with social media and other duties as assigned.
