About The Position

We are seeking a Product Counsel to join the growing Product Legal team to meet the expanding needs of our company and our customers. In this role, you will be advising and partnering with our business teams to enhance and scale Gusto's growing suite of tech-based HR services for US employers hiring both domestically and globally. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of small business owners and their growing teams that use Gusto's product. Requirements

• JD degree and a member of a State bar/active license to practice law.
• 7+ years of combined legal experience, with experience working in an in-house legal department at a technology company. Experience must include employment law.
• Experience providing pragmatic legal guidance related to tech products.

Responsibilities

• Counsel the product, engineering, and design teams on a range of issues including employment compliance, wage & hour, employee benefits, marketing, data privacy, and AI use.
• Research and advise on complex regulatory frameworks to design or enhance innovative and regulated B2B and B2C products and services that support the HR and compliance needs of small businesses.
• Contribute to our product suite from brainstorm and ideation through launch.
• Contribute to key initiatives helping to mature our Legal & Compliance team's functions.
