About The Position

The High School Math Teacher at Excel Academy Charter School is responsible for delivering high-quality, rigorous college-preparatory instruction to students in grades 5 to 12. The role emphasizes creating a safe and inclusive learning environment while collaborating with colleagues to refine curriculum and assessments. The teacher is expected to embody the school's mission of providing equitable education and fostering student success through effective teaching practices.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred, but not required.

  • Have a track record that reflects the importance of rigorous classroom instruction and culture.
  • Have experience in a public or charter school setting and have experience working with schools that serve grades K-12.
  • Have experience teaching or leading schools that serve family populations that are similar to those at Excel Academy.
  • Speak Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic fluently.

Responsibilities

  • Teach math to several sections of students.
  • Collaborate with department members to develop and refine Excel's curriculum.
  • Design and implement rigorous assessments that evaluate student mastery of academic standards.
  • Create a safe learning environment for all students by implementing Excel's classroom management strategies and best practices with consistency.
  • Provide coverage as needed during non-instructional time.
  • Serve as a productive member of the Excel Academy community.
  • Do whatever it takes to ensure the mission of the school is upheld.
