About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent plus vocational training or job-related coursework.
• 5 years of experience in heavy-duty mechanics.
• 5 years of mechanical knowledge and experience.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in the refuse industry/environment.
• Experience with HEIL, Schwarze, Vac-Con, Wachs, PB Loader, Stanley, Ravo, and medium to small powered equipment.
• Heavy equipment or other relevant mechanical knowledge.
• Welding and fabricating experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and service heavy-duty refuse equipment and trucks.
• Perform repairs and diagnostics on electrical and hydraulic systems for vehicles and equipment.
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate repairs.
• Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and requisition new parts.
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles and maintain compliance with safety procedures.
• Complete required paperwork using Karmak Fusion fleet maintenance software.
• Assist senior mechanics with project work and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Operate various shop tools such as saws, drills, and forklifts.
