About the position

The Nurse Manager will oversee the health services provided in our Job Corps programs, which aim to help young people succeed in various aspects of their lives. This role requires a commitment to safety, quality service, and excellence in healthcare delivery. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with medical standards and regulations, providing emergency care, and managing health service staffing and expenditures.

Responsibilities

  • Provides cursory and complete medical examinations including all PRH requirements.
  • Coordinates optometrist/ophthalmologist evaluations and glasses meeting ANSI standards.
  • Implements immunization programs in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Provides daily walk-in services for routine care and an appointment system for follow-up.
  • Conducts patient assessment, triage, and treatment.
  • Provides emergency care including first aid, CPR, and coordination of emergency services.
  • Ensures 24-hour emergency care with written arrangements for local community facilities.
  • Utilizes community resources for staff and student training on wellness issues.
  • Manages the TEAP program including assessment, intervention, counseling, and prevention education.
  • Coordinates health aspects of sports activities with the Recreation Department.
  • Oversees the Reproductive Health Program including pregnancy prevention and family planning.
  • Provides weight control counseling and support through the Weight Improvement Program.
  • Manages seropositive students ensuring compliance with PRH requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Maintains health service staffing compliance with required levels and qualifications.
  • Ensures all health staff comply with professional standards of care.
  • Manages medication including ordering, storage, administration, and record keeping.
  • Implements and monitors orientation for health services.
  • Acts as a resource liaison for Wellness class and Health Occupations Program.
  • Liaises with the Center Director and Management Team on health-related issues.
  • Develops and monitors quality assurance programs.
  • Coordinates with other Directors, Managers, and Supervisors for effective interface.
  • Completes and submits all Health Service Reports.
  • Directs and monitors Health Services expenditures.
  • Oversees the purchase, use, maintenance, and disposal of supplies and equipment.
  • Complies with guidelines for Major Medical Reimbursement.
  • Maintains medical records in compliance with PRH requirements.
  • Provides on-call services for emergency care.
  • Implements and monitors infection control measures.
  • Complies with OSHA requirements.
  • Provides written standing orders on department procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in the nursing field, preferably in a supervisory or manager role.
  • Current State Professional Nurse License.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
