The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) is seeking a part-time Groundskeeper to provide daily hands-on turf and grounds maintenance in the Property Services Department. This position is essential in maintaining the beauty and safety of the facilities at the Cove, ensuring a distraction-free environment for guests. The Groundskeeper will work as part of a team committed to the mission of preparing the place for people to meet with God.

  • Provides maintenance of gardens and grounds, ensuring quality maintenance to existing planting beds, outdoor spaces around buildings, turf, and trails.
  • Performs hands-on turf maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, and string trimming.
  • Performs irrigation maintenance.
  • Assists with snow removal.
  • Performs soil preparation for sodding and seeding, seeding, and turf installation.
  • Works as part of a team installing new plantings and seasonal change-outs.
  • Performs equipment maintenance and general shop cleaning and organization.
  • Effectively communicates with supervisor and coworkers.
  • Works efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinates positively with the Supervisor and communicates needs for materials and equipment.
  • Follows directions given by the Supervisor and discerns when assistance is required.
  • Commits to the implementation of the Safety Program regarding safety practices and equipment usage.
  • Commits to wearing personal protective equipment and reading all material safety data sheets for any chemicals used.
  • Works as a team member with fellow staff members in an edifying and encouraging manner.
  • Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer.
  • Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading and leading group prayer as schedule permits.
  • Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA's Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations.
  • Knowledge of turf maintenance practices such as mowing, edging, and string trimming.
  • Preferred two years post high school education in Horticulture or related field or four years' experience in Horticulture or related field.
  • Ability to perform pesticide and herbicide applications with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management practices.
  • General knowledge of and ability to follow the policies and procedures of the BGEA.
  • Part-Time employees working at least 20 hours and fewer than 30 hours each week are eligible for partial benefits.
