About the position
We are seeking a qualified Finance Analyst with FP&A experience to join our fast-paced start-up environment at Butternut Box. As part of the FP&A team, you will be responsible for providing support in reporting, planning, forecasting, and budgeting, as well as conducting insightful analysis to help the company achieve its objectives. The role involves analyzing data, making strategic decisions, and collaborating with various teams such as Marketing and Operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for periodic business reviews, forecasting, risk assessment, and presenting analysis to senior management.
Responsibilities
- Support and lead parts of the semi-annual budgeting processes
- Model out multiple scenarios for different product/market launches and growth initiatives
- Work with Marketing to understand detailed metrics and allocate resources effectively
- Partner with Ops teams to optimize unit economics
- Host periodic business reviews with business leaders
- Manage the rolling forecast process and liaise with business leaders to correct deviations from plan
- Identify and mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities
- Communicate and present analysis to senior management
- Prepare materials for board meetings
- Produce timely outputs for ad-hoc requests
- Recommend and own specific departmental goals each quarter
- Drive improvements in reporting processes and internal decision making
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (or close to completion)
- FP&A experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Comfort with ambiguity
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified
- 2 years+ professional experience in FP&A/finance/commercial roles
- Proven self-starter with an entrepreneurial 'can do' attitude
- Highly inquisitive and analytical mind capable of complex problem solving
- Passionate about transforming numbers into key insights
- Advanced financial modelling skills
- Strong data manipulation and analysis skills
- Ability to produce clear graphical data representations and present data in a clear way for finance and non-finance professionals
- Excellent communication skills
- Fine attention to detail with an eagle-eyed ability to spot trends and pick out inaccuracies
- Love for all things dogs
