About The Position

The Forklift Operator position at Amcor involves operating and maintaining forklifts to supply production operations with raw materials and ensure timely loading of finished products onto trucks. This role serves as a stepping stone to potential lead positions, with responsibilities including inventory management, communication with internal departments, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • A valid driver's license and forklift certification are required, meeting OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains forklift in a safe and efficient manner using work instructions, visual management and computer interface.
  • Supplies production operations with raw materials to produce finished product.
  • Prints and scans Bill of Lading for all finished goods using computer interface and RF scanner.
  • Visually inspects skid quality before loading onto trailer.
  • Transfers goods to staging or storage areas.
  • Loads finished goods onto trucks in a timely manner to meet customer's delivery requirements.
  • Accurately completes all written logs and data input to include closing sequences on tickets and printing Bill of Lading.
  • Ensures accurate inventory counts and notifies lead/supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
  • Completes forklift pre-shift inspection (FCD-1475 Rev.2).
  • Removes/Reworks any damaged product on pallets.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties.
  • Follows all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines.
  • Trains current and new members of the department to perform job-related tasks as assigned.
