The reporting location for this position is Caswell Memorial State Park in Ripon, CA. This position will work under the supervision of the District's Senior Environmental Scientist. The Central Valley District is currently seeking a Forestry Aide that will assist with invasive weed control, species monitoring/trapping, fuel reduction, and professionally monitoring contract crews. The Aide(s) will be expected to utilize equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, vehicles, and assist with controlled burns in a safe and responsible manner. Additionally, the incumbent will be trained to utilize pesticides for invasive weed control. The incumbent should possess the ability to identify plants and animals along with the ability to utilize GIS/GPS systems/maps, work as a part of a team, utilize critical thinking skills, and maintain a positive attitude. This position may work up to 189 days within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
