About The Position

The Kitchen Helper / Dietary Aide assists the Cook in the preparation and service of meals, places prepared food on plates/trays following tray tickets in line with established policies and procedures, and, as directed by the Food Services Director/Manager or Cook, ensures that quality food service is provided at all times. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering food and trays, washing dishes, and cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen according to health standards. The role emphasizes safety, punctuality, customer experience, and resident experience.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to follow instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Current ServSafe certification required by State/County law.
  • Food Handler's card required.
  • Ability to lift/carry a maximum of 30 pounds and push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Must live in the service area.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in food service is desirable.
  • Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Cook in meal preparation and service.
  • Place prepared food on plates/trays following tray tickets.
  • Prepare and deliver food and trays.
  • Wash dishes and clean/sanitize the kitchen according to health standards.
  • Utilize protective gear in all appropriate functions.
  • Report equipment/cleaning product needs and malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure established standards, safety, and quality guidelines are met.
  • Follow infection control and universal precautions policies.
  • Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance.
  • Positively represent HCSG by being courteous and cooperative.
