About The Position

The Food Service Assistant plays a crucial role in the food service operations at Aurora Medical Center Grafton. This part-time position involves assembling and delivering meals to patients, maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria, and assisting with food preparation for various events. The role requires adherence to dietary guidelines and productivity standards while ensuring safe food handling practices.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge in food service from within a hospital, hotel, restaurant, or related environment.
• Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
• Good communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
• Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office or similar products.

Responsibilities

• Assembles patient and mobile meal trays/meals according to approved diet guidelines and portions.
• Loads and transports food carts, delivering patient meal trays to rooms as per established procedures.
• Provides initial service to visitors in the cafeteria, serving food and maintaining cleanliness.
• Operates cash register, handles cash, and completes daily reports and cash register balance sheets as needed.
• Performs cleaning duties in the kitchen and cafeteria using established sanitation procedures.
• Assists with preparation, delivery, setup, cleanup, and presentation of catered events.
• Prepares snacks, beverages, sandwiches, and other patient food items according to standardized recipes.
• Prepares, arranges, serves, and replenishes supplies of food, beverages, and condiments in retail areas and kitchen.
• Delivers and stocks nursing units, doctors' lounges, and emergency rooms following established procedures.
• Monitors food temperatures and utilizes procedures to ensure safe food handling.
