As a Fish and Wildlife Manager 1 (Hatchery Manager), you supervise, manage, plan, coordinate and direct the fish culture at one medium sized hatchery facility.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture or Aquarium Science AND three years and six months of fish culture experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework AND two years of fish culture experience
  • Five years of fish culture experience, including two years of lead work or supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and implement assigned hatchery production to meet short and long-term program goals
  • Develop and implement hatchery specific operating procedures
  • Plan, prepare and administer the hatchery budget
  • Supervise two employees
  • Develop and implement goals: affirmative action, safety, hazardous materials handling, ADA
  • Oversee and participate in fish culture activities
  • Oversee maintenance and operation of water system
  • Oversee management of hatchery housing, property, facilities and equipment
  • Develop short and long-term plans for remodeling and maintenance
