About the position
The Financial Analyst, Marketing role at Smartsheet is a remote-eligible position based in Costa Rica. The analyst will be responsible for optimizing the allocation and execution of financial investments across the marketing organization and various channels. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive business cadences, and contribute to the overall growth and success of Smartsheet. Key responsibilities include managing the marketing forecasting process, tracking the marketing budget, preparing financial forecasts and variance analyses, ensuring accurate recording of expenses, and continuously improving budget management processes. The ideal candidate will have progressive experience in finance/FP&A positions, fluency in English, and exposure to SaaS subscription-based business models.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the Marketing forecasting process, including the development, implementation, and tracking of the marketing budget.
- Work closely with marketing managers to gather budget requirements, updates, and adherence to the allocated budgets throughout the fiscal year.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts, variance analyses, and budget accuracy reports.
- Ensure all marketing expenses are accurately recorded, coded, and reconciled in financial systems.
- Review procurement requests and monitor expenditures against approved budgets; address any discrepancies promptly.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance financial processes related to budget management to increase forecast accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide overall support and coordination to the FP&A team, including general inquiries, ad-hoc requests, and projects.
Requirements
- 2+ years of progressive experience and demonstrated growth in Finance/FP&A positions
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or similar quantitative discipline preferred but not required
- Language fluency in English
- Exposure to SaaS subscription-based business models and associated KPIs a plus
- Experience with NetSuite ERP and enterprise planning applications like Planful, Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, or Anaplan a plus
- Experience with Opex modeling and forecasting, large data sets and sophisticated models, proven proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint presentations and deck creation
