About The Position

The Finance Career Development Program (FCDP) is an early career rotational program designed to provide hands-on career development through rotations beginning in the Summer of 2025. Participants will rotate through various financial and accounting functions, gaining exposure and development needed to accelerate their careers. Each rotation will help grow financial acumen and business knowledge, providing a comprehensive understanding of National Life Group and the life insurance industry, positioning participants for future growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics, or Business is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem solving and strong analytical reasoning skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Able to work independently within established timeframes.
  • Ability to think strategically and respond tactically in a dynamic environment.
  • Well organized and able to handle multiple priorities at one time.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a CPA, CIA, CMA or a similar designation.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about financial statements prepared on a GAAP and Statutory basis in Financial Reporting.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Accounting team on recording direct expenses, including accounts payable and cash account reconciliations.
  • Gain a foundational understanding of the Audit process in Internal Audit.
  • Assist with banking solutions and services in Treasury to enhance customer experience.
  • Administer reinsured policies in Reinsurance according to agreements with reinsurers.
  • Assist with risk dashboard reporting and assessments in Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Support Capital Management initiatives to improve the organization's capital position.
  • Contribute to process improvement in the Finance Improvement Team.
  • Evaluate financial performance and set targets in Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Engage in tax compliance and process improvements in the Tax function.
