Bruker Daltonics, a leading manufacturer of mass spectrometry instrumentation, software, and accessories, has a new opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to support analytical instrumentation for the analysis of molecular interactions and Surface Plasmon Resonance products manufactured by Bruker Biosensors. This position is located in San Diego, California.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Biotech, or Mechanical Engineering related fields or equivalent experience.
  • High level of knowledge and understanding in the field of mechanics, electronics, optics and/or fluidics combined with high interest to work practically on such instrumentation.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical and microfluidics with Surface Plasmon Resonance Instrumentation.
  • Proven knowledge of analog electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, laser technology.
  • Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation.
  • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate and interact with Scientists and Researchers.
  • Excellent verbal, written, MS Office, computer, technical data, and networking communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner.
  • Valid Drivers' License issued by state of residence and in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Independently arrange travel to customer sites to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair analytical instrumentation with qualification according to established procedures.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) and basic services following written Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Preventive Maintenance involves verification of system performance, execution of detailed maintenance protocols and final verification of system performance according to written specifications from documented Operational and Performance protocols.
  • Perform new system installation, including customer familiarization training.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repair on-site using Digital Voltmeter (DVM) and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Provide technical, software and application related support and assistance to customers and colleagues, either directly or by remote diagnosis.
  • Accurate record keeping and timely submission of documentation following established protocols is required.
