About The Position

The Facilities Project Manager is responsible for overseeing a variety of building construction and renovation projects from inception to completion. This role requires strong organizational and prioritization skills, as well as the ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse project teams. The manager will ensure that projects comply with city guidelines, remain on schedule, and stay within budget while maintaining communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Business Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in project management within construction or a related area.

  • Experience constructing facility projects for a governmental agency.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager for facility projects including new construction, remodels, additions, and improvements.
  • Coordinate procurement of project needs in compliance with the City's monetary and purchasing guidelines.
  • Review and manage project documentation to ensure compliance, schedule adherence, and budget management.
  • Perform onsite inspections to define projects and monitor construction performance.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and lead various project meetings including procurement, design review, and construction progress meetings.
  • Document project notes, minutes, photographs, and records of construction material tests electronically.
  • Review and prepare contractor and consultant pay applications and communicate vendor performance reviews.
  • Negotiate recommendations for change orders and contract amendments.
  • Obtain and file electronically all as-built drawings, warranties, and operation manuals related to projects.
  • Coordinate efforts between designers, contractors, and impacted City staff.
  • Build and maintain relationships critical to project success with City Departments, contractors, and consultants.
  • Resolve issues that arise during the design and construction phases of projects.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and department leaders.
  • Identify and document future capital project facility needs.
  • Create specifications for simple facility projects.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an online building maintenance platform.
  • Follow city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
