About The Position

The Facilities Project Engineer at RTX Corporation will be responsible for managing projects related to both the physical facility and research initiatives on the East Hartford campus. This role involves interpreting customer requirements, sourcing solutions, providing detailed specifications, managing contractors, and ensuring project progress aligns with budget and schedule. The engineer will represent the facilities engineering team and report to the principal investigator and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • University degree in a related field such as mechanical engineering, operations, or project management with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in Project Management, managing multiple projects or a large singular project.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., IPC, IBC, NFPA) and ability to read construction blueprints.
  • Familiarity with trades means and methods (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC) and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP Enterprise Management Software.
  • Project Management International (PMI) credentials.
  • Familiarity with MV electrical distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects involving physical facilities and research projects on the East Hartford campus.
  • Interpret customer desires and technical requirements to provide viable solutions.
  • Create detailed drawings and specifications for all trades involved in projects.
  • Source materials and labor necessary to accomplish project tasks.
  • Manage contractors and oversee project scheduling.
  • Troubleshoot and solve day-to-day problems related to projects.
  • Report project progress, risks, schedules, and budgets to stakeholders.
