About The Position

Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a drug product & finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche's commercial portfolio & pipeline products. The Operations organization at HTO is divided into 2 value streams, which combine to produce millions of units of life-saving medicine every year to patients around the world. Our Hillsboro Individualized Therapies (HIT) team at Genentech is at the forefront of bringing new medical advancements from development stages to commercial manufacturing. As a member of our Site Services team that supports both HTO and HIT, this role ensures the safety and compliance of our facilities. As a key member of our Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement programs that protect our people, maintain regulatory compliance, and uphold our dedication to environmental stewardship. This position offers the outstanding opportunity to contribute to the safe production of next-generation immunotherapies, drug products and finished goods manufacturing directly impacting patient lives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering or equivalent.
  • 4-7 years of experience in Sustainability Initiatives and/or EHS Programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in sustainability and project management.
  • Knowledge of Oregon OSHA regulations.
  • Proven track record of influencing others and driving change.
  • Resilience and adaptability in navigating organizational resistance.
  • Ability to make critical business decisions and develop solutions.
  • Experience working effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong analytical background and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of confidence in leading meetings and delivering training.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or high-tech industries.
  • Certification in LEED Green Associate, Sustainability Excellence Associate, or Certified Energy Manager.
  • Certification in areas such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement SHE programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to mitigate risks and enhance safety culture.
  • Provide expertise and advice on EHS topics and workplace safety.
  • Develop and implement Sustainability Strategies.
  • Lead Sustainability Reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability certifications and reporting standards.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable resource use.
  • Educate employees and partners on sustainability best practices.
  • Assist site leaders in ensuring compliance with regulations and corporate directives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for audits and inspections.
  • Conduct workplace risk/exposure assessments.
  • Lead investigations into SHE incidents.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and track program metrics.
