About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning patient rooms, clinical and public areas of the medical center. This includes cleaning and disinfecting all environmental surfaces within the hospital, supporting the linen service, and collecting and transporting waste within the hospital using proper handling and disposal techniques.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Institutional cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand English required.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, handling of waste, disposal, and material handling using safe work practices and following policies and procedures for each task.
• Review work completed to verify the correct steps have been completed.
• Perform all tasks in a safe manner using safe work practices.
• Wear appropriate PPE for all tasks.
• Follow directions when mixing chemicals.
• Use appropriate equipment for the task.
• Use proper body mechanics.
• Communicate with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner.
• Talk with and listen to patients/team members.
• Report pertinent information.
• Protect confidentiality of patient/colleagues.
• Perform tasks in the correct order to maintain the integrity of the environment.
• Demonstrate unit specific skills requisite for department.
• Manage self and resources effectively.
• Acknowledge limits of experience and capability.
• Identify learning needs and seek resources.
• Utilize equipment and supplies appropriately.
