About The Position

The Environmental Scientist position at Stantec involves working closely with project teams to manage natural resource permitting and conduct environmental studies for various projects, including electric transmission lines and renewable energy facilities. Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline (botany, biology, ecology, natural resources, wildlife biology, or related field)
  • Minimum of 5 plus years of experience in environmental science
  • Strong wetland delineation, ecological community restoration, and plant and animal identification skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional MS Office skills
  • Ability to solve problems using critical thinking
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, alcohol screen, and baseline physical
  • Willingness to travel and conduct field work in potentially remote areas for extended periods

  • Experience with GPS-based survey equipment

Responsibilities

  • Wetland and stream delineation and assessments
  • Vegetation inventories
  • Wildlife surveys and habitat assessments
  • Aquatic assessments (lake and stream)
  • Environmental permit applications
  • Endangered resource record reviews
  • Record, enter, organize, manage, and analyze data
  • Work closely with the Client and Project Manager and technical lead to manage USACE, USFWS, MDNR, EGLE, county and other permitting
  • Lead teams to prepare written reports, tables, spreadsheets, databases, and maps for client and regulatory agency review.
