About The Position

This internship offers a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to contribute positively to Sarasota County through the UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability Department. Interns will engage in the development of educational materials, data collection, and analysis related to biodiversity and water resources, while also assisting in the delivery of various environmental education programs, including 4-H programming. The role emphasizes hands-on experience, professional development, and networking within the public sector.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old, or 16-17 with parental consent.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active, enrolled student in a relevant field.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver educational programming related to environmental education.
  • Assist in the preparation and development of educational materials such as lesson plans, videos, and presentations.
  • Serve as a youth mentor and camp counselor during 4-H camps and events.
  • Support outreach and marketing efforts for various programs and events.
  • Conduct data entry, analysis, and literature reviews to support program initiatives.
  • Research and develop communications materials including blogs and social media content.
  • Assist with analyzing data for climate action plans and grant support initiatives.
  • Participate in organized intern events and trainings.
