About The Position

The Environmental Services Department has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Environmental Consultant in Watershed! This role supports the Wake County Sedimentation & Erosion Control and Stormwater Management programs and manages construction projects at different stages of development to ensure compliance with state rules and local regulations/ordinances. Serves as a subject matter expert, fosters collaboration and education of the development community, partner municipalities and residents. Protects environmental quality by reviewing development/construction plans, conducting inspections, issuing permits, responding to customer complaints and enforcing state rules and local ordinances following applicable procedures to ensure continued State delegation of local programs. NOTE: This position conducts field inspections. A Valid Driver's License and 'safe' driving record required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Forestry or related field.
  • Three years of experience in environmental planning, inspections or engineering.
  • Valid Driver's License and 'safe' driving record.
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI).
  • Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC).
  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).
  • NCDOT Level 2 Certified Erosion and Sediment Control/Stormwater Site Manager.
  • Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality (CPSWQ).
  • Certified Stormwater Inspector.
  • Construction (CSI-Construction).
  • Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater (QCIS).
  • Qualified Preparer of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (QPSWPPP).
  • EPA's Construction General Permit (CGP) Site Inspector Training Certificate.
