About The Position

The Enterprise Systems Cloud Engineer at Villanova University is responsible for the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of the university's Microsoft Azure and Office 365 platforms. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of cloud services while aligning cloud technologies with the institution's technical and business objectives. The position requires collaboration with leadership and technical teams to design cloud solutions, optimize resources, and drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of work experience in the IT field.
  • 3 years of experience supporting and managing M365 and/or Azure Infrastructure.
  • 3 years of experience supporting Exchange email and collaboration tools.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing technologies, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Office 365 and/or Microsoft Office 365 certifications desirable.
  • Experience managing a M365/Azure environment with 3000+ users.
  • Experience in large, complex higher education environments.
  • Ability to translate needs/issues with both functional and technical audiences.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical skills in identifying trends and making decisions.
  • Experience managing and supporting Windows Server OS.
  • Strong knowledge of Office Applications: Outlook, OneNote, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SharePoint Online and 3rd party tools like ShareGate.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and technical leads to assess and review opportunities to utilize Azure services.
  • Design and implement Azure-based solutions to meet technical and business requirements.
  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for high availability and performance.
  • Regularly review and adjust Azure resources to match actual usage and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for cloud resource management.
  • Implement and manage Azure operational best practices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and application performance.
  • Stay updated with the latest Azure services and share knowledge with the team.
  • Administer and configure Office 365 services including Exchange Online and SharePoint Online.
  • Collaborate with teams to lead projects and resolve issues related to Microsoft 365 services.
  • Prioritize security issues and partner with the Information Security Office.
  • Proactively monitor platform availability and respond to security requests.
  • Document and operationalize M365 implementation and maintenance tasks.
  • Write and maintain documentation for setup, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Create, test, and facilitate change requests for production systems.
  • Resolve service requests and manage assigned ticket queue.
  • Engage in Continual Service Improvement processes to assess services and identify enhancements.
  • Explore options for addressing service gaps by collaborating with other universities.
  • Develop frameworks to guide innovation and improvement cycles.
