About The Position

The English to Spanish Language Translator at Southern Oregon University is responsible for creating accurate translations of various documents from English to Spanish, ensuring cultural relevance and clarity. This part-time, fully remote position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• Four years of experience as an editor reviewing and correcting written materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors.
• A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or related field may substitute for two years of the required experience.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English and Spanish.

Nice To Haves

• Experience translating documentation from English into Spanish or an equivalent combination of experience and education in certified interpreting.

Responsibilities

• Translating English to Spanish texts as needed by SOU Youth Programs.
• Translating English language text into comprehensible, culturally accurate Spanish text for Spanish language readers.
• Recognizing English language idioms and translating them into understandable, culturally relevant Spanish.
