About The Position

The Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking an English/Language Arts Teacher for grades 7-8 at Columbus School for the 2025 - 2026 school year. The position requires the establishment and adjustment of instructional goals and objectives in alignment with district and school goals, as well as the needs of students. The teacher will design lessons that promote problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills, while maintaining standards for behavior that foster self-discipline and positive relationships among students. Ongoing professional development in content area and pedagogy is expected, along with planning learning activities that cater to individual differences among students. The teacher will also develop and evaluate assessments, monitor student progress, and engage parents and community members in the educational process. Additionally, the teacher will be required to teach a high school communications/ethics class and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Required certification: English/Language Arts (015) and (102).
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years' successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred.
  • Experience in the use of educational technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

  • Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments.
  • Monitors and evaluates students' progress in relation to curriculum policies and planned goals.
  • Encourages and maintains the involvement of parents and community members in support of instruction.
  • Involves parents in the assessment of their children's progress and needs.
  • Required to teach a high school communications/ethics class.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $50,825.00 - $105,070.00, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
