About the position
Heap is seeking a remote manager to lead a team of engineers and drive the technical strategy for their managed ETL product, Connect. The manager will be responsible for coaching and developing the team, as well as partnering with product management and 3rd party developers to maintain and extend their integrations platform. They should have a track record of leading diverse teams, a solid engineering background, and experience in building integrations and data platforms at scale. The role requires working in US timezones and a strong understanding of cloud computing.
Responsibilities
- Remotely manage a diverse group of 5-8 engineers ranging from junior to senior
- Support the growth and development of the engineering team through continuous coaching and feedback
- Drive the technical strategy and partner on product direction for the managed ETL product, Connect
- Work closely with product management, partnerships team, and 3rd party developers to maintain and extend the integrations platform
- Own execution and delivery of the engineering team, balancing new feature work with technical debt and platform investment
- Lead and coach diverse teams of engineers for at least 3+ years
- Have a solid engineering background with at least 5+ years of total experience in technical roles
- Run team cadences in a fast-moving, agile environment and work cross-functionally with product management to set roadmap and direction
- Have relevant experience in building integrations, building data platforms at scale, working with event streaming architectures, and/or a strong understanding of cloud computing (particularly AWS)
- Be willing to learn and ramp up on technologies not known from the stack
Requirements
- At least 3+ years of experience managing a team of 4 or more engineers
- At least 5+ years of total experience in technical roles
- Strong coaching and leadership skills
- Solid engineering background with knowledge of new technologies
- Experience working in a fast-moving, agile environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product management
- Experience in building integrations and data platforms at scale
- Familiarity with event streaming architectures
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, particularly AWS
- Willingness to learn and ramp up on new technologies
