About The Position

As our Energy Storage Engineering Intern, you will support our Renewables Engineering group which supports the technical development, design, and construction of large energy storage projects throughout North America. As the Energy Storage Engineering Intern you will gain valuable engineering experience in the renewable energy industry. Every day in this role you will participate in a variety of tasks related to the development, implementation, and improvement of energy storage systems. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of battery storage systems, their components, integration, site engineering and construction. You will participate in engineering design review for utility-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, and energy storage) and in multi-discipline team meetings to further your understanding of different engineering disciplines and support development of engineering specifications. You will learn about various stages and technical aspects of renewable projects (Power Plant Controller (PPC) Controller, Protection Relays, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Substations, Transmission, Underground Collection) and attend site visits to support design review, construction review, and commissioning activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Must be at least a junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • General understanding of energy storage service and applications.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and present ideas professionally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
