About The Position

The Senior Design Engineer will provide technical leadership and project planning for complex analog and digital designs specifically for electromechanical actuator (EMA) products at Garmin. This role involves overseeing the design and development processes, ensuring high reliability and availability of products, and collaborating with various teams to deliver robust solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in complicated schematic and PCB design.
  • Broad technical knowledge in areas of Electrical Engineering such as analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP.

Nice To Haves

  • Outstanding academics with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Extensive circuit design experience for consumer or aviation products.
  • Experience with electromechanical actuator subsystem architectures.
  • Experience with high reliability and availability designs.
  • Experience with electronic motor control and position sensor technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex analog and digital designs for electromechanical actuator products.
  • Define subsystem architecture for high reliability and availability electromechanical actuator products.
  • Oversee and manage development of new projects involving new designs or major changes to existing designs.
  • Collaborate with Production and Engineering to design optimal PCB solutions considering thermal and space constraints.
  • Participate in design reviews and offer process improvement suggestions.
  • Author new procedures and provide technical input to product development plans and concept documents.
  • Plan and develop experimental test programs to verify compliance with regulations and quality guidelines.
  • Analyze test data and reports to ensure designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Interface with Test Engineers and factory personnel on product testing and production support.
  • Investigate and evaluate the usage of the latest components and technologies, performing cost/performance tradeoff analysis.
