About The Position

The goal of this position is to help students learn subject matter and master skills that will contribute to their overall development as mature, able, and responsible learners. This will be achieved through establishing, maintaining, and reiteratively communicating clear behavior and learning expectations for all learners. The role involves consistently striving to improve performance to aid students in meeting learning targets and goals, providing frequent and ongoing feedback to learners and stakeholders regarding their progress towards those goals to ensure that every learner experiences success at high levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree minimum (some graduate work preferred).
  • Must have an Arkansas Teacher's license for Elementary Education K-6 or ECE P-4.
  • ESOL endorsement preferred.
  • Competence in the total teaching act.
  • Proficiency demonstrated in the Science of Reading.
  • Ability to apply current educational theory and practice.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing staff development.
  • Ability to effectively differentiate instruction and sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Commitment to staff development and to apply new techniques in the classroom.
  • Ability and willingness to construct hands-on education materials.
  • Submission of a 5-10 minute video demonstrating the learning experience in your classroom required.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace the K-8 school configuration and best practices with high expectations and promote student success while adopting a student-centered focus.
  • Support the vision and mission of Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy by working collaboratively with the administration and all staff.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or procedures governing student life, conduct, wellness, and academic mastery.
  • Plan instruction designed to promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth and development of children.
  • Formatively assess student progress and modify instructional techniques.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievements of curriculum goals by establishing and communicating clear objectives.
  • Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation upon request of administration.
  • Implement innovative, research-based instructional strategies, assessments, techniques, and programs.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate.
  • Monitor individual and/or group activities to prevent accidents and promote social skills.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Promote the community spirit of Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy.
  • Meet and instruct assigned class in the location and at the times designated.
  • Assist in identifying and utilizing community resources such as field trips.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
