The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC's forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls; manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45). Reporting to the Program Manager, the Electronics Technician Maintenance I will support the handling, loading, and offloading non-ordnance items on submarines at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH) piers and within the confines of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY) and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (IMF) Controlled Industrial Area (CIA) on a single submarine at one time on the Hawaii Detachments Support Services contract. This position is located in Honolulu, HI.

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • One (1) year of experience in industrial and shop operations.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as in performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities.
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in engineering or a related technical field is desired.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities

  • Loading and offloading non-ordnance items on submarines.
  • Transport to/from a storage facility located on JBPHH.
  • Transport VLS Platforms and Submarine Weapons Handling Deck Skids to/from JBPHH and Navy Munitions Command (NMC).
  • Sanding, painting, and repairing equipment per technical manuals and procedures.
  • Forklift Operation up to 15K lbs capacity.
  • Non-Cab Category 3 Crane Operator (7,500 lbs. capacity).
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
