About the position
As the EHS Engineer at Faraday Future, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support and guidance for all safety programs, including lockout/tagout, electrical, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, machine guarding, and environmental programs. You will develop and implement EHS-related programs to improve efficiency and safety throughout the manufacturing facilities. Additionally, you will conduct inspections and audits, investigate accidents and incidents, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations. Your role will also involve managing hazardous waste and conducting necessary training.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on, comprehensive, site-wide review, guidance and program support for all safety programs including lockout/tagout, electrical, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, machine guarding, and environmental programs
- Develop and implement EHS related programs throughout manufacturing facilities to support continuous EHS and efficiency improvement
- Conduct routine, scheduled facility inspections and audits to monitor and detect potential safety, health, and environmental hazards. Recommend corrective action or preventative measures where indicated and appropriate. Properly report and document findings and actions taken. Offer solutions not just action lists.
- Investigate and report all accidents and incidents in a timely manner to properly document root-cause, preventative measures, corrective action plans, and recommended training
- Perform job hazard assessments for all new and modified equipment. Evaluate situation and collaborate with internal personnel to determine required changes.
- Promote safety and track lost time accident days, LWI (Lost Workday Incident), and DART (Days Away and Restricted Time)
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs
- Ensure the company remains compliant with all OSHA and other safety related regulations as well as insurance carrier requirements. Monitor regulatory issues and trends.
- Manage the proper handling, classification, labeling and disposal of hazardous waste to ensure hazwaste operations are in full compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Prepare and conduct necessary environmental, health and safety training. Cooperate and support all training programs
- Develop, implement and conduct regular EHS meetings
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward management, staff, customers and vendors.
- Must be a team player who also works well independently, taking initiative and exhibiting self-direction. Ensure that company policies adhere to local, state and federal regulations.
- Become familiar with existing company EHS SOP’s and WI’s to ensure all employee conformance.
- Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals.
- Monitor personnel and work space i.e. Behavioral Based Safety with the goal to reduced accidents and improve overall company EHS Culture.
- Manage the storage, recycle, reuse & disposal of residual, universal and hazardous wastes.
- Assists and counsels’ managers, safety council members and area coordinators.
- Ensuring ergonomics are reviewed throughout facility to prevent injuries.
- Encourage and advocate for safer work equipment, materials and supplies.
- Good time-management skills
- Maintain a current working knowledge of EHS regulations & understand how they impact business.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Proactively communicate with Management and Supervision on all safety and environmental issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Safety/Environmental Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of related professional experience in the EHS field in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years in a supervisory role exhibiting leadership and providing direction to others
- Proven knowledge + expertise, and passion for machine and equipment safety, industrial hygiene
- Strong focus on safe work practices
- Strong familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, Federal, State and local safety regulations
