About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering discipline.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Basic technical knowledge of geological engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with rock and soil mechanics for subsurface investigations.
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective self-leadership and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software.

  • Prior internship related to the degree of study.
  • Membership in local professional practice organizations.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • MSHA Part 48A Underground Coal and Metal/Non-metal Training.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, and analyze data from physical work sites and samples for project development.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements and reporting.
  • Assist with geological engineering work, including subsurface investigations and soil foundation engineering.
  • Perform routine geological engineering functions and provide technical assistance on design requirements.
  • Verify site characteristics and assist with environmental and construction issues.
  • Prepare data visualizations and technical reports for project findings.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
  • Assist in analyzing data from field investigations and developing action plans for risk mitigation.
  • Help prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
