About The Position

The Doane Tiger Mascot, known as Thomas the Tiger, is responsible for providing entertainment at various campus and community events. This role involves meeting and greeting students, staff, faculty, and community members, as well as taking pictures to enhance the overall mascot experience at Doane University. The mascot must project an enthusiastic and entertaining demeanor while maintaining the character's identity.

Requirements

• Warm and engaging personality.
• Professional demeanor and image compatible with Doane University professionalism.
• Independent and self-motivated, while being flexible and adaptable.
• Clear understanding of silent communication while in costume.
• Flexible work schedule.
• Dance experience preferred.
• Available for up to 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high energy and enthusiasm at all times to keep the entertainment level high.
• Be flexible with work hours depending on the event and agreed schedule.
• Assist in the development, creation, and execution of performances to enhance the Doane mascot experience.
• Preserve the identity of the mascot, including body language, mannerisms, attitude, and fan interaction.
• Work well in a team environment.
• Commit to the assigned scheduled opportunities for 'Thomas' to appear at events.
• Distribute Doane University promotional items to increase school spirit and attendance at events.
• Interact personally with students, staff, faculty, and community members.

Benefits

• Total weekly hours required: 3-10 hours per week.
• Compensation: $13.50 per hour.
