About The Position

The Director of Operations for Tangen Hall at the Wharton School is responsible for managing the student entrepreneurship building, overseeing its operations, and ensuring it serves as a hub for entrepreneurial learning and activity. This role involves strategic planning, day-to-day management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance student engagement with the startup ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management and/or higher education.
  • Experience with information technology management and facility operations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with various constituent groups, including senior leadership, students, and alumni.
  • Solid administrative skills, including establishing objectives and performance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate disputes and lead during times of uncertainty.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues/emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Tangen Hall's operations and facilities, ensuring effective use of innovation and collaboration spaces.
  • Lead the planning and execution of co-curricular entrepreneurship programs and events in Tangen Hall.
  • Oversee building maintenance, security, and technology support services.
  • Manage Tangen's $1M operations budget and $200K capital improvement budget in compliance with financial requirements.
  • Supervise two full-time staff members and manage front desk staffing.
  • Update and enforce building policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other University departments and student groups to facilitate access to event spaces.
  • Implement and improve facility access and scheduling systems.
