About The Position

As the Director of Mainframe Communications, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing management of Fiserv's global mainframe infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of Fiserv's mainframe systems, supporting the critical operations of the organization. You will lead the team that configures, implements, and troubleshoots TCP/IP, VTAM, and other communications protocols. This includes implementing AT-TLS and other security solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience overseeing mainframe infrastructure operations and managing tenured mainframe engineers/architects.
  • 10+ years of experience with mainframe systems, including IBM z/OS, DB2, COBOL, CICS, MQ, z/OCP, ESMs (RACF, ACF2, and TopSecret) and JCL.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications in mainframe technologies, such as IBM Certified System Administrator or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert.
  • Knowledge of emerging mainframe technologies and trends, such as cloud integration and modernization initiatives such as RedHat OCP on z/Series.
  • Experience managing mainframe infrastructure in a hybrid or multi-cloud environment.
  • Experience in the financial services industry or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong technical expertise in mainframe infrastructure system administration, security, software and hardware upgrades, storage management, virtualization, and disaster recovery principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Direct senior team members to perform problem determination and resolution, capture and transmit system dumps, closely work with vendor's technical support, apply fixes and patches, coordinate testing and implementation of fixes and new versions, and work with other mainframe-based or midrange-based technical teams on production roll-out.
  • Closely collaborate with capacity planning and performance management, automation, architecture, and modernization infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of mainframe systems by implementing best practices, conducting regular audits, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify infrastructure requirements and proactively address their changing needs while budgeting and closely monitoring expenses.
  • Champion the adoption of modern tools, technologies, and practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of mainframe infrastructure operations.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with vendors and third-party service providers, ensuring effective partnerships and adherence to service level agreements.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for mainframe systems to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity.
