About the position
We are seeking a Director of Finance to join our team at Sylva, Inc. This role is crucial in driving our financial strategy and operations to the next level. Responsibilities include managing the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial statements, developing budgets and strategic plans, and providing financial leadership for M&A and other initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Managing and developing the accounting team
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Executing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Developing budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans
- Providing insights and analysis for business decisions
- Partnering with business unit leaders to develop and implement financial strategies
- Assisting with the fundraising process, including financial due diligence and financial modeling
- Evaluating and optimizing financial systems and processes
- Supporting scalable growth
- Providing financial leadership for M&A and other strategic initiatives
- Hiring, managing, and developing a remote-first finance team
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7-10 years experience in public accounting, preferably one of the big 4 accounting firms
- 5-7 years experience in a managerial financial reporting role at a mid to large size private company
- CA / CPA or equivalent qualification
- Netsuite experience is required
- Deep understanding of subscription-based business models
- Experience managing and developing accounting teams
- Knowledge of GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning skills
- Ability to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company objectives
- Experience with financial due diligence and financial modeling for fundraising processes
- Ability to evaluate and optimize financial systems and processes for scalable growth
- Familiarity with M&A and other strategic initiatives
- Experience hiring, managing, and developing remote-first finance teams
