About the position
The job overview for the Director of Engineering - Software Platform Performance at Aurora is to lead the Software Platform + Performance engineering groups, set the strategy for the engineering pod, and collaborate with various teams to bring Aurora's autonomous trucking product to market. The ideal candidate should have experience in leading software engineering teams, managing high-performing teams, and collaborating with hardware and operations teams. They should also have critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The base salary range for this position is $247,000 to $395,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Software Platform + Performance engineering groups, including Performance Engineering Optimization, Deep Learning Acceleration, and Autonomy Frameworks
- Set the strategy for the engineering pod and communicate cross-functionally as a champion for team initiatives and deliverables
- Collaborate with Autonomy Software, Hardware Engineering, Safety, Product, and Operations teams to bring Aurora's autonomous trucking product to market
- Demonstrate experience leading software engineering teams through rapid growth and development culminating in launching product/s into the market
- Grow, motivate, and manage high-performing teams
- Possess excellent people management, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and operations teams
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Serve as a leader of leaders, managing teams with distinct but related responsibilities and serving a broad internal (and eventually external) customer base
- Experience in product launch and scale, especially products that require an interplay between hardware and software
- Have automotive, transportation, or logistics experience.
