About The Position

The Director of Collections oversees the Collection Teams of the MCMF Physician Billing department under the direction of the Vice President of MSO/ Revenue Cycle services. The span of control for this role includes both Nautilus MSO and MCMG. The position is responsible for collections functions, including ensuring that department activities comply with Federal and State regulations and collection SLAs and that collection KPIs are maintained at or favorable to industry standards. Oversees the interaction and personally interacts with physicians and office staff to develop and maintain effective collection protocols. This role ensures ongoing communication and valuable relationships with internal and external customers. Consistently provides ongoing evaluation and refinement of internal collection processes to ensure maximum productivity and results. Conducts proactive analyses, monitors reimbursement trends, and maintains up-to-date knowledge and proficiency concerning coding guidelines and medical billing requirements. Reports results and metrics monthly to the Vice President of MSO/ Revenue Cycle Services, internal leadership, and clients as required.

Requirements

  • 7-years experience in accounts receivable management.
  • Proficiency with process improvement, A/R monitoring techniques and spreadsheet applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in business studies and/or Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Directs all aspects of the collection process through effective oversight and process development.
  • Monitors accounts receivable performance to ensure acceptable collection results for both MCMG and Nautilus Billing Service clients.
  • Provides direction and guidance to collection supervisory staff regarding resource allocation, personnel management issues, process evaluation and improvement, customer relations, etc.
  • Utilizes automated system reporting capabilities to analyze accounts receivable and implement programs to ensure prompt collection.
  • Reports results and performance metrics to the VP MSO/ Revenue Cycle and designated stakeholders.
  • Develops and employs analytical tools and other monitoring mechanisms to proactively identify potential reimbursement and compliance issues.
  • Interacts with senior management and multiple departments to collaborate on shared issues and coordinate operational policies and strategic direction.
  • Ensures that collection areas' work and policies are consistent with MCMF compliance program, including continual process review to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Promotes and maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Stays abreast of changes in billing and reimbursement issues, new legislative programs, insurance, regulatory requirements, etc., and ensures appropriate communication to stakeholders.
  • Functions as subject matter expert for ambulatory billing issues.
  • Works collaboratively with MCMF Operations leadership to coordinate revenue cycle activities with medical clinic front office functions.
  • Participates in or leads workstreams for special projects related to the collection's areas.
